Madame X is a professional erotic comic artist who has come under the attention of Touro, a wannabe artist who has become infatuated after seeing Madame X's erotic work. However, Touro has yet to be able to consummate his desire, as Madame X always has other plans for him. Whether she is intentionally teasing him or leading him on or whether she is oblivious to his infatuation is unknown. Madame X currently has a roommate, bukkake porn star Chie, whose man problems Madame X doesn't quite understand but acts in a mother-like role for Chie's love life problems.
ARTIST COMMENT:
When I had Madame X in mind, I had sort of the idea that she must be the "unattainable beautiful woman" stereotype, that she never gets that Touro is interested in her and she doesn't care--she only uses him for her own selfish purposes. That this joke has gone on as long as it has surprises the hell out of me. I have had people accuse me of repetition because Touro never scores which I don't understand... the joke was never Touro not scoring but HOW he doesn't score, as Madame X is to Touro like the Road Runner is to the Coyote.
The idea for Chie and Madame X to live together was partly because I wanted to flesh out the character a bit more than I could in the last two panels of a typical Madame X strip. Also, this was partly because of a larger idea I had involving a larger parody, where Sexy Losers would be bought by a Japanese corporation and all the characters would be reassigned--Madame X, Chie Sakamachi and Doctor Lovetalk would all live together, and as they all have jobs related in the sex industry (erotic artist, porn star and sex therapist), their antics would be a part of a "Sex in the City" parody called "Sex in the Industry". I gave up on the idea because it was just a little too ambitious, but in the end I had Chie and Madame live together. Lovetalk remains in her booth.
