 Touro Friend #1 (sarcastic) |
Touro Friend #2 (swearing)| QUICK STATS | | | IN DETAIL (SPOILERS) | HISTORY/DESCRIPTION: Generally appearing pretty much only to verbally harass Touro whenever he tries to score with Madame X, or when Touro inevitably fails. He also tends to appear elsewhere as a "floating character" whenever nonsensical verbal abuse is called for. ARTIST COMMENT: As I said in the sarcastic friend commentary, these two guys started developing separate personalities early on. Swearing friend became the quick favorite character of the strip, and people still quote him to me in letters or in correspondence. One of the most bizarre swearing friend tributes was a flash animation "A New Bunny" which featured the updated Bugs Bunny using swearing friend dialogue. When writing swearing friend dialogue I keep to two points: 1) Use of expletives. swearing friend dialogue must have a balance between normal speech and swearing speech, so that he isn't singing "Family Reunion" everytime he opens his mouth. 2) Comprehendability. His speech kind of makes sense but doesn't. Great dialogue floats in the region between comprehendable and incomprehendable, and should sound like an insult but makes too little sense to actually understand the insult. I also employ a dictionary and a thesaurus as well. | | ALL COMIC APPEARANCES | SEXY LOSERS APPEARANCES: 001 006 011 013 022 034 040 043 052 102 104 105 137 157 183 208 237 241 CAMEO APPEARANCES 2003 12 28 - Tang's Weekly Dec. 28, 2003
