| The "payoff" strip. I don't even hide the fact that I'm reusing an old punchline, I refer to it right in the header, as if admitting to it makes it less shameless. Well, it doesn't, but it seemed like a good way to make the introduction to these two characters. I even got to mention my childhood licorice accident (see commentary for (#69). There's a couple of things I can mention. This is the first time the Kikuni Shota Angry Penis makes its appearance. I love Kikuni Shota's work, especially "Da-you!" His style is amazing, a combination of manga and ukiyoe for a truly Japanese feel. Anyways, his convention of the black stick with the anger mark for a penis was someting I was giving tribute to, and this is where it started. In the third panel, I was going to make a "Better Off Dead" reference, but I figured it would ruin it. (For those who have not seen "Better Off Dead", one of the funniest and underrated movies in the known universe, you are missing out). The reference would have been "Nooooo! I can't swim! Auuugghhh! Glug!" I STILL hear the paperboy's voice when I read that panel. Strip Published Online: October 16, 2000.
