| COMMENTARY |
| This continuing story needed further development quickly, so here it is. This also begins the convention for "to continue the joke, we need humour, so let's go for irony". If there's one thing I don't like doing and that's plot pusher strips because not only do I have to get from Point A to Point B (in this case, the point is Shiunji gets the job due to his interest and experience and the owner completely misunderstands WHY he has the interest and experience) AND have a joke worth drawing. I HAVE to push the plot forward; there's no way around it, so the joke is what gets sacrificed. That's why this plotline is taking as long as it does, it's just FILLED with plot pusher strips. And because of the slow pace I do these at, having too many plot pusher strips makes it feel like I'm not funny for long periods on end. In retrospect, if I had known the headaches I would give myself by starting these arcs I would probably think twice about starting them. Look at the layout of the last panel -- you'll see this EXACT SAME LAYOUT again and again in this strip. I really got my money's worth out of that one. The inking changes a little in this strip as well -- I found a thicker black marker I fell in love with and started using more. Thankfully I realized I liked it because it was NOVEL and NOT because it actually improved the inking and got rid of it, but I think it took me like, half a year to realize this.
