This was drawn just before the big pre-hooplah of Star Wars: Episode I. Being a boy during the first trilogy meant that your life almost revolved around Star Wars. I drew Star Wars comics, I played with Star Wars toys, I watched the series again and again and again. I waited out in line to see Return of the Jedi when it first came out, which was a big thing for a 12 year old.When the new updated version came out, I only saw the first one. It was like these things were important to me as a kid, and definately had their influence on me, but as an adult it didn't have the same impact. I see movies as works of art. They shouldn't be changed once completed. It would be like Leonardo DaVinci touching up the Mona Lisa 20 years after because he bought some new brushes. When they are updated in this way, it cheapens the original. I hope when the first trilogy comes out on DVD, it will be possible to buy the original instead of the digitally tweaked version, because it was the original that had its impact on me.
